Classic Motor Show @ the NEC Birmingham – Saturday 11th November 2017

An early start for this one 5.00am – members Steve, Bernie, John and myself made our way to Birmingham.

As usual there were loads of Classic Motors to see, (5 halls) this Show has definitely grown over the years. Capri Club International had a white Capri 1.6 Laser on their stand used daily with 302,000 miles, the car was bought in 1990 with 30,000 – a credit to its owner.

Fords were very well represented with Clubs from most models displaying some great cars. Silverstone Auctions were mind-blowing once again with Fords outselling Jaguars, Ferraris and Porsches. A MK1 Fiesta XR2 sold for £24,000, a Capri 280 Brooklands sold for £42,000 and a Concourse Mk2 Escort RS2000 sold for £87,000. Prices don’t include a 5% Auctioneers fee.

We are no longer the poor relations in the Classic Car World, so it seems. We had a great time, and John bought the right number plates this year! Can’t wait for next year.
