The Cornish Steam & Country Fair (West of England)

16th to 18th August 2013

Written by: Mark Roberts & Steve Hunt

Thursday

Mark, Steve, John, Craig, Carl and Bernie all arrived in the pouring rain at Stithians to put up the Club Stand, saving ourselves enough room before space taken by other exhibitors. Once we had finished Bernie then left to get his Capri 3.0S and left his keys with Steve, Bargain but no fuel. We all returned back home looking forward to the weekend and hoping the weather will improve.

Friday

On Friday the rain had stopped and it looked like a good day so we made our way to Stithians. Steve's Capri was driven by Sabrina, where they met John and Craig. Mark had already left his 2.8 on the stand earlier as he had to take Julie to Hospital for a small operation, all went well. Brill.

Soon after Laurence Reed of Radio Cornwall arrived, he was very interested in the Cars and interviewed Steve and John. – Well done. Later on Carl turned up with his Cortina. Friday evening was excellent we went on the Noah's Ark, Bumper Cars and the really scary Ghost Train (Couldn't sleep after)

Saturday

Saturday unfortunately was a complete wash out (Only the hardy bunch for today) Just a few Cars although our Stand still looked good and the Austin 7's still had 30 cars on display. We spent the day either in our new gazebo or Tony's van. Mark and John with wet weather gear took the opportunity to have a look around while it was quiet. Saturday evening cleared up, so the members who camped went down to the beer tent to see Johnny Cowling – he's a P*** taker but very funny.

Sunday

Shorts and T-shirt weather again - Sunday was a great day. Mark and Lewis turned up with the Mk1, Pete & Jodie, Winston and Rob with his stunning Laser all joined the Stand – a total of 9 Cars. The car section was full with standard to fully modified Metal on display. The whole show was busy, a world of difference from Saturday. Around 4pm we joined the car display which was great apart from the wait in the field – some of the Cars were getting warm. We were given Mugs instead of Plaques which was great and useful.

A great show and we can't wait for next year.

Well done to Car Secretary Jason Goss.
