Friday
It was a bit of a damp start as I made my way to Constantine Bay to meet Jeremy to set up for our show weekend. Once the rain cleared, thankfully that was the last we saw of it until Monday morning – it was perfect weather throughout the weekend!
We were soon joined by members John, Jack, Nick, Andy B, Glen and Ainsley.
The day was spent putting up signs, gazebos etc and sorting out general stuff. When the evening came, it was off to the Farmers Arms for a well earned meal and a couple of beers.
Saturday
Up early to finalise a few things, then it was time to prep the cars ready for our Classic Ford Run. With a 10.00am start and originally 29 cars booked in, we were amazed to see over 40 lined up!
We had a great run despite a few Cars becoming detached momentarily but we were all back together at Looe Island, a beautiful place where I and most of the convoy had not been to before.
Once back at the site, it was time to chill and have the usual chin wag with a few beers before our evening entertainment – As Weird as Fish. They were absolutely brilliant, Dan even unplugged and played a couple of acoustic songs at the end including ‘American Pie’ – awesome!
A massive thank you to Dan and Kate. (They are already booked for next year!)
Sunday
An early start again, the weather was great as we put up some final road signs, had a quick brekky and soon the first cars started to arrive.
We had some great cars on display including a rare Capri RS3100 and a Sierra XR4x4. It was great to see some commercial Fords (This is an area we want to expand) including a Ford F47 pickup, a Ford Transit and a Ford Thames pickup. American Fords were well represented with a range of various Mustangs.
We had a total of 106 Fords on display – a great turnout for our 1st show at Constantine Bay and our photographer took over 300 photos. We were however let down by 4 traders, this is something we are working on for next year. Our sponsor, Vospers of Truro couldn’t display any cars this year – but will support us again next year.
We are pleased to announce that we have raised £2000 split between our 2 charities – Cornwall Blood Bikes and Wadebridge Food Bank. We would like to thank all members who helped throughout the weekend - a special thanks must go to Nick’s mate Steven, Jerry’s son Jac and Ainsley’s partner Chelsea.
A big thank you to Gavin and all at Mother Ivey’s Holiday Park for the venue. Finally thank you to all exhibitors, traders and public for supporting us, and for leaving the site so clean and tidy.
