Friday

Members Mark (myself) Steve, Winston, Andy, Paul D and John all rocked up to Trevornick to set up and prepare for our show weekend. The weather forecast was a damp end to the day, so it was all hands on deck to get everything done – and we did. While Winston, Paul and Andy headed home, Mark, Steve and John were joined by Jerry and family, Dave, Nicola and family, campers Peter and Patrina for a well-earned pint with some great food at the Treguth Inn.

Saturday

With the weather looking good, an early start – 6.00am. After a good old full English breakfast, we were set up for the day. Around 9.30 the first cars started to arrive for the car run and a total of 30 cars left Trevornick at 10.00am. We headed west to Portreath, took the coast road to Hayle and on to our 1st stop The Old Key House at Lelant.

Leaving Lelant, we headed on to St Ives, Zennor, Pendeen, St Just and our 2nd stop at Land's End, where we were treated to Cornish pasties.

It was then on to Penzance, Marazion, Porthleven and Helston. Once leaving Helston we made our way back to Trevornick.

A big Thank you to club member Jeremy for organising the car run.

We arrived back at Trevornick around 6.00pm to find more campers had set up. After a bite to eat and a freshen up, it was time for our evening entertainment. The BT Experience kicked off at 8.00pm, played for 2 hours and were absolutely brilliant, with Cornish versions of some popular songs. A few beers and a good time was had by all.

Sunday

Again, an early start and surprisingly quite a clear head after the previous evening. We put up the last-minute signs and by 8.00am the first traders and cars were arriving.

The weather had turned slightly damp but by 10.30 all this had cleared and we had a great day. With cars arriving from as far as Leeds and London, the show field was soon filled with a wide selection of Classic Fords. These ranged from a 1922 Model T, right up to the latest 2019 RS Focus and most models inbetween. We were celebrating 50 years of the Capri, with a great line up including a black JPS Mk2 and parked beside it a white JPS Mk2 – you don’t often see this!

There was a good selection of autojumble, which was very popular throughout the day.

One of the most popular vehicles was a concours Transit Mk1 which was stunning, as were many other Fords on show.

The Show seems to be growing each year and we already have been asked about 2020, so hopefully we will see you then.

Amongst the Trophy winners were

Pre-1950's - Chris Blewett Ford Model T 1980 – 1989 - Ross Jarrett Capri 2.8 Special Furthest Travelled - Paul Hitchen Leeds 514 miles. Best Club - Obviously Ford Best Capri on Show - Dave Bolton Capri JPS Mk2 Car of the Show - Peter Westaway Ford Cortina Mk3 GXL

We managed to raise £1000 for the Cornwall Blood Bikes and a cheque will soon be presented to them.
