Duchy Ford Club Road Run Saturday 6th July 2024

As many of you know, we host lots of exclusive road runs for our members throughout the year, mainly during the sunnier months (can someone tell July it's supposed to be sunny please!). Luckily, on the 6th July, we lucked out with some fantastic sunny weather for our St Austell to Tintagel road run. 9 members met at the Inn For All Seasons, to convoy up together to Yummy Cornish Kitchen in St Austell - massive thank you to Albert and the team for hosting us on a Saturday when they aren't normally open. Once there, we had another 6 members join us, giving us a decent turnout of 15 cars! Cars ranged from James's little red Fiesta, to Adrian's longer Granada limousine, with lots of other Fords in-between.

Club member Nick, of Nick's Motors in Camborne, arriving in his Capri. Featuring the fantastic little catering wagon from Yummy Cornish Kitchen, which Albert used to attend our show this year.

Club members enjoyed a fantastic breakfast at Yummy Cornish Kitchen, some even braved the Demon Breakfast, and then gathered in the car park and admired each others cars - we all support each other in the club and like to see what everyone's been up to with their cars, whether it's new mods or even just giving the car a clean.

Once everyone was ready, our 15 club members then convoyed over to Hilltop Farm in Camelford, kindly hosted by Gary Down of Launceston Retro Rides. We had a nice break here, enjoyed ice creams and let the animals out for a walk - yes that is a cat on a lead! I tell you what, when we say we're inclusive as a club, we mean it. We had 2 dogs and a cat on this road run, and they loved it as much as us! Once we'd all had our pitstop, and one Chris had topped up his coolant (minor radiator issues), we then set off for our final destination of the road run: Tintagel!

Our 15 cars drove on over to King Arthur's car park in Tintagel, and it was extremely busy with coachloads of tourists (quite literally!), but we all managed to park up and go for a wonder. By this point the sun was really beating down on us, so another ice cream was required, and some other members just went for a wonder around the shops. We stopped at Tintagel for about an hour, and then club members headed on home for the day, except for a small portion of us that actually headed on over to Watergate Bay Touring Park. Why you ask? Well, we have been looking for a new venue for our big Duchy Ford Show Weekend 2025, as we had such a good turnout this year, we wanted to make sure we had the space and facilities going forward. We are extremely delighted, and thankful, to announce that our show will be hosted at the Watergate Bay Touring Park in 2025! More details on this to come, but definitely get the dates down in your calendar; 21st & 22nd June 2025. This decision only came about after approval from our main committee and members, as we value our club members' opinions.

We look forward to our next road run, hopefully more of our club members can come along and meet us along the way. Thank you as always to the amazing businesses that support our club en-route.

Until next time,

Mark
