As usual, the Cornish weather decided not to play ball with our club activities - but that didn't stop us! Club members gathered at the Inn for All Seasons for a 10am start. We had over 20 cars already at our first port of call, which was a great turnout considering the damp, dark weather!
Club members ready to go!
It was decided we'd split into two groups. Adam (club secretary) left with 8 cars to meet more members at Truro Park & Ride North. Club chairman Mark then left 5 minutes later with the remaining cars, and convoyed on down towards Truro, where both groups then reconvened at the traffic lights near Waitrose - perfect timing!
By this point we totalled 24 cars, and made our way to St Mawes. The weather was clearing, and views were stunning as we drove into St Mawes, with views of the castle and the sea, over to Pendennis head on the opposite headland. We drove through the village, and got parked up.
St Mawes Castle, the car park, and the harbour which was surprisingly clear for such a dull day.
We had a great faff with the parking ticket machine in the car park which was rather entertaining - and by the time we sorted that, most members were looking for a bite to eat, and so wondered down into the main village. Some members popped into Da Bara Bakery, and others ventured into Fudge & More. Everyone was well catered for and welcomed! Some members even braved a small stroll down onto the small sandy areas in the harbour. Before long, it was time to head off again, and head towards the King Harry Ferry. We were lucky enough to get all the cars on in one crossing - it was an amazing sight. For those wanting to view it, please check out the video on our YouTube. Massive thank you to the staff on the ferry who were so accommodating.
On the ferry.
Once off the ferry, we drove back towards Falmouth, and drove to Redruth Rugby Club via Ponsanooth, and Lanner. We had a FANTASTIC welcome from the rugby club, with cheerleaders and all! We then parked up, got the club flags out, and tucked in to our BBQ, kindly hosted by the rugby club. The food and drink were absolutely brilliant - I don't think our club members have ever been so quiet as they were in that moment, devouring burgers and hot dogs! Again a massive thank you to the rugby club for hosting us.
Left, the BBQ awaits! Right, the club display.
A thank you goes out to everyone - the rugby club, the ferry staff, and of course our club members for coming along and joining in on our end of season road run.
Until next time,
Mark
